Greater Manchester weather forecast for this week with more rain on its way

The rest of the working week is forecast to be dull and wet in Greater Manchester, with conditions improving by the weekend.

The region was battered by heavy rain and gusts yesterday (Tuesday April 11) and while the weather won't be as extreme today (Wednesday April 12), an umbrella will still be needed. Wednesday morning will start out dry and cloudy, with heavy rain to move in from lunchtime, according to the Met Office.

This will turn light and eventually clear up at around 5pm. Temperatures will peak at 8C. Thursday (April 13) will see even more rain, with on-and-off light showers falling from 6am until around 8pm. It will be slightly more mild, with temperatures peaking at 10C.

The first half of Friday (April 14) will be dry - and there will even be some sunny intervals in the afternoon. Temperatures will peak at 11C, but there will be more rain on the way. Light showers will fall from 4pm until around 10pm.

Despite the miserable weather, one aspect to look forward to as we approach summer is the sun setting later. On Friday, the sun won't set until around 8.07pm. The weekend, meanwhile, is looking more settled, with a sunny morning on Saturday and a dry day ahead. Sunday will be noticeably warmer, with temperatures topping 17C.

However, there will be some light rain showers in the afternoon - so it's worth rising a bit earlier to make the most of the warmer temperatures.

The Met Office said of the weather this week: "It will stay unsettled through the rest of the week, with sunshine and heavy showers for many on Thursday, and persistent rain in the south on Friday, before it becomes drier and brighter as we head through the weekend and more especially next week with temperatures starting to rise."
