A yellow weather warning for ice has been issued for parts of the UK, while temperatures are expected to plummet back to zero in Greater Manchester tonight.
The Met Office warning comes into effect in northern parts of Lancashire tomorrow (January 2), as well as Yorkshire, Cumbria, and the North East. It covers the whole of Scotland from 6pm this evening, while the whole of Northern Ireland will also be affected by it tomorrow.
Weather experts warned that in affected areas there will probably be icy patches on roads, pavements and cycle paths - leading to a higher likelihood of injuries from slips and falls.

A Met Office spokesman said: "Following recent wet conditions surfaces are likely to remain wet into Monday morning and with a cold night icy stretches will readily form on untreated surfaces. A few rain, sleet and snow showers may still affect these areas overnight but ice remains the main hazard."
Greater Manchester will avoid the weather warning but it is set to drop back down to freezing point this evening, with patchy frost and minimum temperatures of 0C forecasted. Tomorrow, it is expected to be dry and cold in the region, with sunny spells.
The afternoon is predicted to stay dry, with blue skies, light winds, and highs of 6C. While the rest of the week is forecasted to be wet and windy on Tuesday, with blustery showers on Wednesday and outbreaks of rain on Thursday.
