It's been a glorious bank holiday weekend with Greater Manchester basking in sunshine. The rest of the country has also enjoyed similar sunny scenes, with Sunday (May 28) being the UK's hottest day of the year so far.

"We’re expecting similar conditions for the rest of the week and into next weekend and probably beyond. So an extended spell of dry and settled weather."
The Met Office says that while temperatures are yet to meet 'heatwave criteria', May has been a 'very dry' month, with little more than half the amount of rainfall as usual.
