Boroughs in Greater Manchester have seen their coronavirus infection rates drop by more than 40 per cent - as cases continue to fall across the region. According to new data, the infection rate for Greater Manchester is still below the national average.
Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester, with a rate of 437.7 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending April 7. The lowest infection rate is in Manchester, where the rate is 273.7 cases per 100,000 people.
In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 333.9 cases per 100,000 population. The infection rate in the region is lower than the national average, which is 457.2 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 9,467 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week which ended on April 7. The Greater Manchester weekly total has decreased by 6705 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 41 per cent in the last week.
Hospital admissions
In the week ending on April 03, a total of 801 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19. That is 75 more than the week before, a rise of 10 per cent.
On Tuesday April 05, there were 14 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is one fewer than a week earlier.
Deaths
In the week ending April 7, a total of 37 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is 5 fewer than the week before.
Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 972,715 confirmed coronavirus cases in Greater Manchester. There has been a total of 9,017 deaths.

Wigan
In Wigan, the latest infection rate is 368.6 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 37 per cent.
A total of 1219 people tested positive for Covid in Wigan over the seven days ending on April 7, which is 720 fewer than the week before.
Trafford
In Trafford, there were 1040 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 7, which is 643 fewer than the previous 7 days.
Trafford has the highest infection rate in the region. The infection rate in Trafford is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 38 per cent.
Bolton
In Bolton, the number of cases is down by 38 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 299.7 cases per 100,000 population.
There were 864 positive Covid-19 tests in Bolton in the week ending April 7, which was 540 fewer than the previous 7 days.
Manchester
Manchester, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 1521 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 7, which is 1409 fewer than the previous 7 days.
The coronavirus infection rate in Manchester is now 273.7 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 48 per cent week-on-week.
Stockport
There were 1155 positive tests over the last week in Stockport, which is 980 fewer than in the previous week.
The week-on-week trend in Stockport is down by 46 per cent and the latest infection rate is 392.6 cases per 100,000 people.
Rochdale
There was a fall of 35 per cent in cases in Rochdale over the week ending April 7, and the infection rate is now 303.6 cases per 100,000 population.
Rochdale recorded 679 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 365 fewer than the previous week.
Tameside
The trend is down in Tameside, where there were 782 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending April 7, which is 603 fewer than the previous 7 days. That is down by 44 per cent compared to the previous week.
The latest infection rate in Tameside is 344.3 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.
Salford
Salford saw a total of 872 cases in the week ending April 7, which is 708 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 45 per cent.
In Salford, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 331.9 cases per 100,000 people.
Oldham
Oldham is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 279.8 cases per 100,000 people.
There were 665 cases recorded in Oldham, which is 328 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 33 per cent.
Bury
Bury recorded 670 coronavirus cases, which is 409 fewer than in the previous seven days.
The latest infection rate in Bury is 351.3 cases per 100,000 people and that is down 38 per cent week-on-week.
