All hope is not lost for house hunters in Greater Manchester as the property market is showing some signs of slowing down. House prices have been on the rise for quite some time now, with the average price of property in the region now £241,657 according to Rightmove's latest data.
In the midst of the cost of living crisis, price drops are something that we're not used to hearing - but lo and behold - there are some parts of the region where house prices are going down. Some areas of Greater Manchester have seen property prices plummet by almost £40,000 this month in comparison to figures recorded by Rightmove back in June.
Here are eight areas of Greater Manchester that have seen the average cost of a home fall by more than £20,000 in the last three months which could be great starting points for anyone looking to buy their first or next home.

Heaton, Bolton
Back in June, Heaton was Bolton's most expensive area to buy a home with an average house price of £218,439.
In September, this has now fallen by £31,528 with houses now priced around £186,911 on average.
Ancoats, Manchester
The inner city neighbourhood of Ancoats had an average house price of £301,255 back in June.
This has now dropped to £279,849 in September having fallen by £21,406.
Ardwick, Manchester
House prices in Ardwick have gone down by £37,729 between June and September.
The average cost of a home three months ago was £223,610 but it now costs around £185,881 to buy a home in the area.
Kersal and Broughton, Salford
Kersal and Broughton both had average house prices of £295,046 back in June and were Salford's most expensive areas.
They have each seen a £39,637 drop this month with the average cost of a property now £255,409.
Heaton Chapel, Stockport
Back in June, the average price of a home in Heaton Chapel was £361,008.
This has now dropped by £32,407 with the cost in September around £328,601.
Heaton Moor, Stockport
House prices in Heaton Moor have fallen by £37,485 since June this year.
Property prices three months ago were around £386,629 whereas the average house price was £349,144 in September.
Heaton Norris, Stockport
Heaton Norris has also seen house prices go down this month by around £23,169.
In June the average house price was £293,858 whereas it stands at £270,689 in September.
Marple, Stockport
In Marple, the average cost of home is currently £356,156.
This has fallen by £23,506 since June when property prices were around £379,662.
