A former coal mine in the Czech Republic could become the first full-scale gravity energy store in Europe.
Edinburgh-based underground energy storage firm Gravitricity has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with DIAMO, the Czech state enterprise charged with mitigating the consequences of uranium ore and coal mining.
The agreement will see the partners work together to seek EU funds to transform the former Darkov deep mine into an energy store – which could be a pathfinder for projects Europe-wide.
