Arsenal star Granit Xhaka has warned his side about the threat of upcoming opponents Liverpool ahead of their Premier League clash this weekend. The Gunners will be looking to continue their winning streak when they travel to Anfield, with the title potentially on the line.
The north London side sit eight points clear with an extra game played, but know that any slip up would mean that rivals Manchester City can win the league if they earn victory in every game until the end of the season. For Mikel Arteta though, full focus is on the things his squad can control.
"What we can control is what we can do," the Spaniard said when asked about replying to Man City's victory with a win of their own over Leeds at the weekend. "We’ve been discussing that for the past few days. After the international break there was a lot of tricky situations to manage with a few players. There’s always a question about how the players will react after that. I think they were exceptional, they were really at it, everybody wanted to be involved and we won the game in a convincing way which is good and the only thing that we can control."

Some key fixtures stand out before the end of the season, namely the clash with City, but also the away trip to Liverpool that's up next. Xhaka has warned his teammates that Anfield won't be an easy place to go and that they must be up for the challenge on the day.
"It does not matter how their season is going - they are always a dangerous team and, at Anfield, a very difficult team to play,” the former captain said at the weekend. "But we have confidence enough to win there as well. This is what we will try to do. That’s why we are going there so let’s see if we can bring the three points back.”
It's this type of confidence, but not arrogance, that has seen the side slowly work their way up the table into title contenders. Liverpool away will be a clash that could create champions or destroy those hopeful of being that, falling short at such a hostile environment.
