Arsenal started the season excellently with seven wins from eight fixtures which see the Gunners sit at the top of the table after returning from the September international break. A major reason why Mikel Arteta’s side are leading the Premier League is due to the crucial presence of Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park.
Xhaka has proved how much of a pivot asset he is to Arsenal in recent weeks with excellent performances, which was topped off in his most recent display against Tottenham, where his excellent second-half strike secured all three points for the Gunners.
The 30-year-old’s impressive performances this season will also do Arsenal a major favour in the upcoming transfer window. The Gunners were criticised for not signing a midfielder before the end of the deadline in the summer market, but Xhaka’s emergence means that Arsenal can save money in January, as a replacement for the Swiss will not be needed, but rather a backup option.
