Mumbai saw its two biggest poll rallies of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections on Friday. In the final showdown ahead of polling on May 20, the Mahayuti camp held a rally at Dadar’s Shivaji Park, whereas, at the same time, the Maha Vikas Aghadi or the INDIA bloc’s public meeting was organised at a ground in Bandra Kurla Complex.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the star campaigner at the Mahayuti rally, which also registered the presence of alliance leaders Eknath Shinde of the Shiv Sena, the NCP’s Ajit Pawar and the MNS’s Raj Thackrey.
The INDIA bloc rally was addressed by Shiv Sena UBT’s Uddhav Thackrey, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, Congress president Malikarjun Kharge, and AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal.
Newslaundry attended the rallies of both camps and asked their supporters about the split in the Shiv Sena, parties siding with their rivals, why their leaders stand out, Hindutva, and the people’s main issues this election season. And what do Mumbai locals think about PM Modi’s divisive tirade?
