The ECHO has taken a look at a private gated community tucked away in a quiet north Liverpool area.
A stone's throw from the banks of the Liverpool Leeds Canal in Melling is The Pottery, a clutch of grand homes behind wrought iron gates.
The road's name is understood to hint at Melling's history in the pottery industry. According to Melling Parish Council, Scottish potters arrived in the area from Glasgow in the 1870s and soon created a hub of skilled craftsman in a canalside factory which ceased production in 1922.

When we visited, the gates of the semi-rural road were luckily open, giving a glimpse of the lavish houses within.
There's only 11 properties on The Pottery, all of which are huge and boast opulent touches such as balconies or double garages.
Minutes away on foot is Canal View, where there are just six homes built in a similar style to The Pottery and back on to the waterway. This road however, does not have the luxury of gated access.
A house being sold on The Pottery is a rare occurrence; the last two properties sold there in 2019, the most expensive of which was £535,000.
Prior to that, two homes changed hands there in 2016 for £299,950 and £300,000 respectively.
There is one currently up for grabs on the quiet stretch for a whopping £700,000 with estate agents Entwistle Green. It boasts five bedrooms, two bathrooms and generous gardens with a outhouse.
The grand frontage enhances the home's kerb appeal, with sandstone brickwork, pitched roofs and a balcony overlooking the driveway.
House prices in Melling overall have remained steady in the last 12 months with an average of £199,321. The figure is 8% higher than the 2020 peak of £185,324.
