Have you ever wondered how racehorses get their names? If you happen to have a thoroughbred knocking around in the back garden - and let's face it, who doesn't? - then there is a set of strict naming rules that you have to follow if you want to enter for a major race.
Firstly, their name has to be unique - pick carefully because your horse will be stuck with it for life. It can only be up to 18 characters long, including spaces and punctuation, and cannot consist solely of numbers unless they are above 30 and spelled out as words.
What you can't do is a far longer list than what you can, and includes no initials, no vulgar or obscene words, no brand names, no names of real people unless you have permission or they've been dead for more than 50 years.
Often horses' names include hints of their bloodlines and the famous race winners they are related to.
This year's Grand National runners have the usual range of weird and wonderful monikers so, for fun, we've put together a quiz of genuine and fake horse names to see if you can pick out the real ones. Bear in mind that the names are taken from the list of 65 confirmed entrants, which is whittled down to the final 40 who will compete this weekend.
