The biggest day in the horse racing calendar is here with the Grand National taking place at Aintree. 40 horses will take to the iconic course bidding for a shot at glory - and a share of the £1 million prize money on offer.
A total of 30 fences (16 in number with 14 taken twice) including the famous Becher's Brook stand in their way on the four miles, two and half furlongs course. Last year, 15 of the 40 starters finished.
The Grand National itself is at 5:15pm on Saturday but before that, there are five races to look forward to with the action getting underway at 1:45pm with the Maghull Novices’ Steeple Chase. Today’s racecard also features the Mersey Novices’ Hurdle (3pm) and the Liverpool Hurdle (3:35pm).
