STYLE PICS: 29 people who stole the show at Aintree on Ladies Day
In the Grand National, bookies typically pay out on up to six places . It is worth checking on the each-way terms of your bets with the company they were placed with though, as offers may vary and some bookmakers do deals and extra places.
But the usual 'EW' rules for this race are 1/5 of the odds for your horse if it finishes in the first six places.
The place part of an each-way bet pays out at a fraction of the ‘to win’ odds that are listed. Better still, if your horse wins the race you will also be paid out for the win part of the bet at the full win price listed.
Example: You place a bet of £5 each-way (a total stake of £10) on Some Horse to win at 15/1 with the each-way terms above (1/5). So that’s £5 on the horse to win at 15/1 and £5 on the horse to place in the first six places at 3/1 (1/5 of the to-win odds).
