With less than 24 hours until this year's Aintree's Grand National Festival begins, Aintree racecourse is preparing to have the eyes of the world upon it.
The 2022 Aintree Grand National Festival kicks off tomorrow, April 7, and racegoers, runners and riders are getting ready for a big weekend. Before they can descend however, the racecourse and surrounding area must be perfect.
The famous event returns tomorrow - in person for the first time since 2019 - with NHS Day, a day to honour the efforts of staff during the coronavirus pandemic, and will run until April 9, when one horse will be crowned winner of the world's greatest steeplechase.

Anyone who has driven around Aintree over the last week will have spotted signs directing racegoers where to collect badges, which entrances to use for coaches and details of impending road closures.
Ahead of this year's festival, photographers were allowed in to take a look around the racecourse as staff are busy making the final preparations. Along with final flourishes being placed on its pop-up bars and signs being placed around the grounds, the track itself had its last minute checks today.
This year's Aintree Grand National festival takes place from Thursday, April 7 to Saturday, April 9.
