Racegoers have returned to the Grand National festival for the first time in three years, and the weather gods have not looked kindly upon them.
The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for Merseyside overnight, through to Thursday morning. While the gusts have eased a little, it's still wet and wild out there.
Current forecasts predict rain between 8am and 2pm, with some sunny intervals expected after. Wind gusts will remain high throughout the day, around 38mph.

After not being able to visit the races in a while though, it seems people are determined to have a good time - whatever the weather. One of the key events in Liverpool's social calendar, the opening day of the Grand National Festival 2022 begins three full days of world-famous racing.
Today's NHS Day will see 35,000 fans flocking to Aintree, 10,000 of which visiting as a result of the racecourse donating tickets to NHS workers across Merseyside. Thursday will feature seven top class races.
Since the weather isn’t looking like it's going to warm up anytime soon, many people made the choice to wear a coat this year, while others opted for boots instead of heels to combat the cold weather.
