Racegoers arriving for the final day of the Grand National 2022 had to rush for cover as flash showers hit the racecourse.
Merseyside is expected to face more chilly weather throughout today. The Met Office has predicted a mostly dry day for Liverpool on Saturday, April 9 on a day when racegoers will enjoy the Grand National at Aintree racecourse.
But as some racegoers arrived at the course they were met with flash showers and had to run for cover. Not wanting to ruin the hair and outfits people used coats, shawls and jackets to protect themselves.

Some people remembered to bring umbrellas but still rushed to get into the warmth. The three day festival has made its triumphant return after a two year hiatus brought on in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Last year's festival was a televised affair which occurred behind closed doors, meaning racing fans could only catch a glimpse of the action by tuning in at home. Today, the grand finale of the racing extravaganza, has seen people united in their desire to celebrate and make up for lost time, kitted out in the finery which has become a trademark at Aintree.

The Randox Grand National 2022 kicked off on Thursday, April 7 and is concluding today, Saturday, April 9. It is held at Aintree racecourse.
