A much-loved mother and grandma tragically lost in her life in a car crash when she was being transported to hospital by ambulance.
Friends and relatives paid tribute to Christine Lafferty, 70, who was officially named by police today (February 14).
Christine Lafferty, from Doncaster, was being transported to hospital by ambulance when she was involved in an accident on February 1.
The ambulance was in a collision with a blue Mercedes on Sheffield Road in Doncaster while on its way to hospital, with Ms Lafferty receiving a number of additional injuries as a result, reports Yorkshire Live.
Despite the best efforts of medics, she sadly died in hospital three days later on February 4.
Since the accident, her family have publicly shared a photo of the much-loved mum and grandma, while also paying tribute to her in their own words.
They said: “Our mum was a fun-loving, beautiful and a generous lady who was loved by anyone who knew her.
"We are devastated that she was taken so tragically.
"She leaves behind her loving partner Ken, her two children Rachel and David and five grandchildren, who loved, admired and cared for her deeply.”
Officers at South Yorkshire Police have shared their condolences and asked that the family's privacy be respected at this difficult time.
Investigations into the accident are still ongoing, however, with officers still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage that could help with their enquiries.
