Gran, 49, force to sleep in shower to escape 'mystery beam of light' in bedroom

A gran says she has been forced to sleep in her shower to escape a mystery "laser-like" light in her bedroom.

Paula Marinoz, says she has lights shining into her flat more than 10 times a day.

The 49-year-old says she also hears high and low pitch noises regularly, which have affected her health

Paula, of Castle Marina, Nottingham, said she has been forced to sleep on her in her kitchen floor, shower and even on the toilet to try and get some sleep.

She began privately renting the property in June 2020 and told NottinghamshireLive the problem started instantly.

"It's absolutely ridiculous, it's been happening since the day I moved. It's beyond a joke - it's not even a joke anymore. It happens in every room of the property," she said.

"It's every day, I hear high and low pitch frequency every so often too.

"Every day and every night. It puts me off so much I have slept in every single room, even in my shower tray and on the kitchen floor."

Ms Marinoz has contacted authorities about the issue, but has ruled out the possibility of passing traffic as it is a "dead-end" street, adding: "It happens in my bathroom too, which doesn't have a window."

She said she has had both her eyes and ears tested, with both results coming back "100 per cent".

Despite contacting her landlord, the police and her local MP and councillor, Ms Marinoz says she has got no closer to finding out what is behind the strange goings on.

She said: "There is something really really odd about this place and I want to get to the bottom of it.

"I know we have caves underneath the city but that doesn't explain the light. I know anybody who has lived here has not lived her for very long."

Ms Marinoz, who suffers with fibromyalgia, says her health is getting worse as a result.

She added: "I want something done about it. It's affecting my health, I am usually quite a calm and happy person. Because of the stress and other things I have developed asthma. I've got to the point where I'll sit on the toilet and drift off to sleep there."

She also trying to move out of the flat, after moving from shared accommodation.

"I have been trying to get a bidding number from the council, I'm looking for somewhere else to rent - I can't live here," she said.
