Graham Potter sent 'important' Serie A message as future Chelsea transfer plan revealed

Ethan Ampadu is reportedly in Chelsea's future squad plans despite being loaned out again to Serie A this season with Spezia.

Despite only making 12 appearances for the Blues since signing from Exeter City in 2017, Ampadu has remained an admired youngster whose maturity has always singled him out as a talent worth persisting with.

A loan to Spezia is his fourth away from Chelsea after having stints at RB Leipzig, Sheffield United and Venezia. There was some hope that Ampadu could have gotten a look-in over pre-season with Thomas Tuchel but mostly remained a fringe figure, with the arrivals of Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana taking the headlines.

Following his debut away at Napoli on Saturday evening, head coach Luca Gotti spoke on Ampadu and his importance to Chelsea's new hierarchy. "Chelsea are convinced that Ethan Ampadu is gonna be a really important player as centre-back in the future". Gotti said.

The loan to Spezia includes no option to buy, and the recent appointment of Graham Potter following the sacking of Tuchel potentially opens up the door for new players to get a chance, particularly with interest in developing young talent a priority for Chelsea's new owners.
