Chelsea manager Graham Potter has lauded Mason Mount for his 'sacrifice' against Wolves and outlined Christian Pulisic's new role in the team.
The Blues continued their unbeaten run since Potter replaced Thomas Tuchel in charge at Stamford Bridge with a 3-0 win over Wolves, after beating AC Milan 3-0 in the Champions League earlier in the week. Chelsea now find themselves inside the top four once again as they continue to chase down the leading pack of Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham.
Diego Costa returned to west London for the first time since he left the Blues to re-join Atletico Madrid in 2018 in a £54million deal, receiving a standing ovation from the Chelsea faithful. Mount struggled for form at the start of the season but Potter is not worried about the 23-year-old.

Speaking to football.london, the Blues boss discussed Mount's form, his potential and the new role Pulisic is adapting to at Stamford Bridge. When asked what he thought about the 23-year-old's performance against Wolves, Potter responded: "I really liked his [Mount] performance today, I thought he linked the game well, him and Christian [Pulisic] were a threat down that left side.
"He made lots of runs in behind, sacrificed himself for the team, worked hard when we didn’t have the ball. So it was a really good performance from him.
"I’ve no doubt about Mason Mount at all. It’s like anything, sometimes the team maybe doesn’t function as well then the individuals don’t function as well.
"Any player knows that football is a bit up and down as well, you have moments when it doesn’t go so well for you and then it’s about okay, what can you learn from that. And he’s got that character, personality, that will just continue to develop. So he’s a delight to work with."
Potter is clearly excited to work with such talented players like Mount and help them improve their ability further. The Chelsea boss continued: "That’s the exciting bit. I never like to put ceilings on players. I like to try to help them enjoy their football.
"I think if the team’s playing well it helps individuals within the team. And I think that’s the job, that’s what we have to do.
"As we said, it gets more challenging with bigger squads and more players, because of less time on the training pitch. But we have to work with what we have, and so far the boys have been brilliant."
One man that was in desperate need of a fresh start is Pulisic who has caught the headlines for all the wrong reasons so far this season, being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge and causing controversy with his upcoming book release, and Potter has discussed the new role the American winger is adapting to. The manager added: "Yeah [Pulisic being nervous] and I think that’s understandable, he’s a human being.
"He wants to play, he wants to help. But it’s just basic maths isn’t it? You can only pick 11, and there’s 24 of them.
"So unless somebody gives me a solution it’s just trying to work with the players, work with the group, understand that we need everybody, that’s clear for me. Then it’s about how do you get the players on the pitch in roles that suit them. And that role for Christian today [vs Wolves] was a good one, high wide left, he can attack the backline and he managed to score."
