Graham Potter has Chelsea World Cup plan for 'new Eden Hazard' after Arsenal transfer battle

Chelsea look to have got one over Arsenal, again.

The Blues aren't above their rivals in the table, for once, and don't have the bragging rights on the pitch at the current moment but they do still have a way to rub it in.

Although there aren't too many Arsenal fans worried about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang despite his impressive start to life back in England - less than one year after leaving the Emirates Stadium - Graham Potter could yet make Mikel Arteta rue a big decision.

Having spent £52m on teenagers over the summer, Todd Boehly put a lot of eggs in the basket for the future. It continued a youth recruitment drive that had started under Roman Abramovich with Dylan Williams' signing from Derby and added Zak Sturge as well. The cream of the crop though was undoubtedly securing Omari Hutchinson from Arsenal.

The 18-year-old chose not to sign a new deal with the Gunners and was instead persuaded to join Chelsea over the summer in a stunning summer coup for the Blues. Hutchinson is widely regarded as one of the best players of his age-group in the country.

With Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe the shining lights at Arsenal, this was one of the reasons that he wasn't as sure of a clear pathway in north London and at Chelsea, Hutchinson can see a team that was able to field five Cobham graduates against Brentford. The use of the loan system is more defined now and Neil Bath was able to add Hutchinson to his academy over the summer.

According to the Athletic, such is Hutchinson's talent, Chelsea youth coaches have likened the player to Eden Hazrad due to his stature, dribbling style and skill. The versatile forward demonstrated these skills in the EFL trophy earlier this week with a fine display against Leyton Orient where he scored and assisted two in a brilliant late turnaround.

Hutchinson also had three goals and three assists in the Premier League 2 this season for a struggling Chelsea Under-21 team. Alongside fellow summer addition Cesare Casadei, Hutchinson is one of the bright lights. According to Transfermarkt, there also aren't many positions he hasn't tried his hand at. Though best as a winger or a No.10, Hutchinson has played across the front-line, midfield and occasionally wingback too.

As a 10-year-old he was valued at £6,000 by Charlton, quite a price for someone that young in 2013, and has already been with Chelsea as a youngster, modelling his game partly after Raheem Sterling and Hazard as well. Under-21 coach Mark Robinson said of Hutchinson: "Omari has been fantastic. When you are a young player and you make that change of club, there is a lot of pressure on you.

"When he first came in, he probably felt that pressure, the big expectations on him moving from Arsenal and coming across to Chelsea. I think, in his early performances, there was that pressure. But as time has gone on, you are seeing him relaxing more and more and he is really starting to show the player he is going to be.

“I am really pleased with him. For us as a club, it’s just a case of helping him overcome that expectancy and pressure when things aren’t quite coming off for him. I think we have done that and he will agree we have done that well. We are now starting to see what a talented lad he is.

“We have a really good relationship. We talk regularly. He is just focused on where he wants to go and how he is going to get there. He is a real humble character. He is great to work with.”

Alongside his youth development, Hutchinson has been watched by Graham Potter up close already, as well as by Jody Morris and John Terry during academy matches, and was part of the new manager's international break set-up, staying on when first team players returned as well.

Hutchinson could be someone who benefits from the World Cup too, as his chance to impress Potter becomes clear ahead of January, where a loan away might be possible. For now though, Chelsea fans are always keen to bring Hazard back to Stamford Bridge, if they're patient then they might get the chance to see their own version.
