Graham Potter can solve Chelsea dilemma by completing bargain £7m Dominik Livakovic transfer

Chelsea manager Graham Potter has opted to select Kepa Arrizabalaga ahead of Edouard Mendy during his time at Stamford Bridge. Since Potter's arrival in September, Mendy has started just two games for the Blues after struggling with injuries and poor form.

Kepa has improved his form at Chelsea but questions still surround his ability as the Blues No.1 keeper when compared to Liverpool's Alisson and Manchester City's Ederson. City and Liverpool have shown that having a world class goalkeeper can help push a team towards domestic and European success.

Croatia star Dominik Livakovic has enjoyed a brilliant World Cup campaign in Qatar. The 27-year-old proved to be his nation's hero in the penalty shootout win against Japan, pulling off three superb saves to send Croatia into the quarter-finals to face Brazil.

Livakovic's performances at the World Cup have caught the eye of many fans and pundits as he continues to impress for his nation. The Croatian keeper kept a clean sheet against the Blues in Thomas Tuchel's final match in charge as Dinamo Zagreb picked up a shock 1-0 win in the UEFA Champions League earlier this season.

Mendy's form is yet to improve with the Chelsea goalkeeper having struggled to perform well at the World Cup with Senegal after he was at fault for a number of goals throughout the tournament. Kepa remains determined to prove himself at Stamford Bridge, but Potter may look to bring in a new goalkeeper with Jordan Pickford and Illan Meslier both being linked with a move to Chelsea.

Livakovic is valued at €8.5million (£7.2million) on transfermarkt which represents a low-risk fee considering the Blues' financial power. Todd Boehly is keen to back Potter in January with new signings and a new goalkeeper may be a key area to address in the transfer market.

Livakovic proved to be Croatia's hero in a penalty shootout once again as they progressed into the semi-finals with the 27-year-old having saved Rodrygo's penalty.
