Graham Potter could look to reverse one of Frank Lampard's transfer decisions at Chelsea if he is appointed as Thomas Tuchel's successor.
Potter is currently travelling to London to hold talks with the Blues over the vacant managerial position at Stamford Bridge, football.london understands. Tuchel was sacked on Wednesday morning following the 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League opener on Tuesday night.
The Chelsea ownership are now searching for a new manager to replace the German with Potter and former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino the leading candidates for the job, football.london understands. Brighton are understood to have given Potter permission to speak to the Blues with Todd Boehly and Co keen to get a new man in the dugout for the London derby against Fulham this weekend.

Should Potter be announced as the new Blues manager, he could look to bring Tariq Lamptey back to Stamford Bridge with him. Lamptey left Chelsea back in 2020 after agreeing a deal to sign for Brighton and has developed into a key player for the Seagulls.
The 21-year-old is one of Brighton's star players after leaving the Blues with former manager Frank Lampard allowing the youngster to leave the club. Lamptey followed in the footsteps of Mason Mount, Reece James and Billy Gilmour as he became the seventh academy graduate to feature under Lampard for Chelsea but opted to leave due to his desire to play regular first-team football, with James now having nailed down a starting spot at right wing-back.
The Blues were thought to be interested in signing a new right wing-back in the summer transfer window to provide competition for James and Potter may look to act on that by pursuing a deal for Lamptey. Brighton were interested in signing former Chelsea defender Tino Livramento before the youngster made the move to Southampton, hinting that Potter could also look act on the Blues' buy-back option for Livramento if he is appointed manager at Stamford Bridge.
Levi Colwill is another talented defender on Chelsea's books with the 19-year-old currently out on loan at Potter's side. Should the English manager become the Blues new manager, Colwill's loan could be terminated with the talented defender returning to west London and continuing to play under Potter.
