Presenter Graham Norton has reportedly celebrated getting married to his long-term partner with a wedding party at a ceremony in Ireland.

According to the Irish Examiner, the BBC star welcomed over 100 guests to his native West Cork to celebrate his nuptials at Bantry House and Gardens on Saturday.

Guests are said to have enjoyed a private party at the four-star venue, which was closed off to the public, situated on the Wild Atlantic Way overlooking Bantry Bay.

They were treated to performances from singer Lulu and Irish dancing group Cairde as well as a DJ set from drag queen and gay rights activist Panti Bliss.

And the celebrations didn’t end there as a number of marquees were set up for a party outside Norton’s Ahakista home the following day.

There has been speculation that Graham and his partner were already legally married before Saturday’s event, which is believed to be a blessing ceremony.

Speaking about the celebrations, one local resident told Cork Beo: “We knew Bantry House was closed for a private event, it was pretty common knowledge that it was a party for Graham and that is was to do with his marriage.

“We were hearing all sorts of names, Lady Gaga, Elton John was supposed to be singing, we’ve not seen any of them but there’s been a big buzz around Bantry.

“We could all hear the music from Bantry House on Saturday night - they certainly got the weather for it!”

The Evening Standard have contacted Graham Norton’s rep for comment.

The author grew up in Bantry and maintains strong ties to his hometown, holidaying there for two months every summer.

Norton, who is thought to be worth £24million, is notoriously secretive about his personal life.

Although nothing is known about his current relationship, he previously dated RuPaul’s Drag Race star Kristian Seeber, Scott Michaels for five years until 2000, and was in a relationship with Trevor Patterson from 2011 to 2013.

More recently, he was in a relationship with music marketing consultant Andrew Smith, who he split from in 2015.

Despite the weekend wedding party, the talk show legend previously discussed about why he prefers living alone.

Speaking on Katie Couric’s podcast in 2018, he said: “You have your own rules as you get older. I would prefer to live alone for the rest of my life rather than live with towels that were folded incorrectly.

“Petty is important. That’s why marriages break up. Marriages don’t break up because of big things.

People co-habit because they have to, because it makes economic sense, I don’t think anybody wants to live with anybody.

“It’s like the toilet paper is hung the wrong way around, it’s kind of the bread doesn’t go there, and also my problem is of course, I’m old, so the longer you leave it, the worse this gets.”
