Graham McTavish and Ewan McGregor among stars heading to Scotland for Comic Con this weekend

Graham McTavish is back in Scotland and sharing his love for the capital ahead of a special event this weekend.

The Glasgow born actor, 61, is set to appear at Edinburgh's Comic Con event at the Royal Highland Centre this weekend along with a whole host of other stars including Ewan McGregor. McTavish, who now primarily resides in New Zealand, took to social media as he walked through the streets of Scotland's capital ahead of the event.

The Scots actor is set to have a full weekend meeting and greeting fans after starring in multiple popular franchises. McTavish is best known for his role as Dougal MacKenzie in Outlander and Dwalin in The Hobbit Trilogy, as well as his latest role as Ser Harrold Westerling in Game of Thrones prequel House of The Dragon.

The star filmed himself walking through one of his favourite parts of Edinburgh, Moray Place, as he ignored the rain to walk around 'one of the most beautiful places in the world'. Captioning the clip, he wrote: "Back in Scotland! Walking one of the world’s great cities. Edinburgh! Hope you can join me this weekend. #comiconedinburgh #walkinginahat "

Fans flocked to the comments to share their appreciation for the stars home country. One wrote: "I agree! One of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever visited. Just lovely. The architecture is stunning."

"Spent 5 days in Edinburgh in early September. Absolutely stunning. Celebrated my birthday on Johnny Walker’s rooftop with a view of Edinburgh Castle and lots of other fun activities," another fan said. A third commented: "I love Edinburgh with all my heart".

The Outlander actor will be appearing alongside a whole slew of celebrities, including Ewan McGregor and members of the Still Game cast. Fans can pay £41 for a photo or autograph with McTavish throughout Comic Con weekend.

However, anyone looking to snap some photographs with Obi Wan Kenobi can expect to pay upwards of £200 for the privilege.

Comic Con runs from October 8-9 at Edinburgh's Royal Highland Centre.
