- Preston legend Graham Alexander has returned to the club to take the manager’s job following the sacking of Paul Heckingbottom.
- Heckingbottom was recently sacked after Preston lost six of their first seven Championship games this season.
- Alexander, who made 372 appearances for Preston across two spells as a player, was given permission by Bradford to speak to Preston last week, and has now taken the manager’s position at Deepdale.
- Alexander led Bradford to promotion to League One in 2024-25, and guided the club to top of the table this season, but has now decided to walk away to return to Preston.
- Speaking about being back at Preston, Alexander said it was a “special feeling” to return 14 years after he retired as a a player.
