Gracie Abrams gives real reason for cutting her hair off

Gracie Abrams has explained why her hair has been getting much shorter

Gracie Abrams has explained why she's been cutting her hair shorter.

The 26-year-old singer has ditched her long hair and embraced a bob in recent years but she's chopped her locks even shorter recently and now she's admitted she's embracing a more "low maintenance" look and she's inspired by Hollywood actresses who sported crops back in the 1990s.

During an appearance on Vogue's The Run Through podcast, she explained: "I feel like [my style is] simpler than ever, as I've been cutting my hair off and off and off.

"I'm just loving low maintenance. All of the screenshots in my phone of like fashion that I love is like, Chloé Sevigny and like Winona [Ryder] and Gwyneth [Paltrow] and '90s ..."

Gracie is an ambassador for Chanel and she revealed she loves the work of the brand's creative director Matthieu Blazy - especially the handbags he's been creating.

She said: "[I] must shout out, Matthieu ... I mean, I've never seen like such a craze ... I wonder how long I will get to [keep the bags]. I'm always like: 'Will they take it back?' I'm like, clutching it, like: 'Do you guys want this back?' ...

"What I love about his bags at the moment as a tote person is that even the ones that don't look that big can fit everything."

Gracie previously admitted she uses the stage as a fashion runway because it gives her the chance to dress up and wear items that aren't part of her everyday style.

She told ELLE: “I have had fun treating the stage as an excuse for me to wear more than jeans and a sweater, which is what my everyday life is.

"And the more that I’ve gotten to know myself and the stronger that I’ve felt in my body, the more compelled I’ve been to try things."

One item she wears onstage that was a big trend in 2024 is a bow in her hair.

Gracie said: “It’s so funny that it has stuck in the way that it has. I would wear [bows] onstage, but they weren’t a part of my daily life.

"To see that symbolism was just this funny thing initially, but now I think it’s sweet to have some token of community."
