BENGALURU: Since his return to the Karnataka Ranji Trophy side in 2016, K Gowtham has been the team’s mainstay spinner, but on Wednesday, the selectors called time on the 35-year-old’s red-ball career. Karnataka begin their campaign against Punjab at home on January 5.
Gowtham, who was the team’s joint highest wicket-taker (31 wickets) last season, made his debut against Uttar Pradesh in 2012. After two matches that season, he faded into oblivion, but the off-spinner made a sensational return in the 2016-17 season, claiming 18 wickets in the first three matches.
