The government has warned employers against using forged medical certificates to register migrant workers, saying legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the law.
Deputy government spokeswoman Patdarasm Thongsaluaykorn said authorities had discovered that some unlicensed clinics were illegally issuing health certificates to migrant workers.
Under the law, migrant workers must undergo health checks for diseases and obtain certificates from state hospitals or authorised private medical facilities.
Authorities said 63 private medical facilities are connected to the department's online verification system. Employers can check approved facilities through provincial employment offices or the Office of Foreign Workers Administration.
Officials have also opened a complaints centre and stepped up inspections targeting fake medical certificates.
