Govt bans all mining around holy hills in Bharatpur: Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot

JAIPUR: Chief minister Ashok Gehlot has reiterated that the government had given permission to ban all kinds of mining in and around the holy hills at Pasopa village in Bharatpur to a delegation of mahants who paid to visit to his residence in Jaipur on Sunday.

"The government had theatrically stated the ban and process has been initiated which will eventually be implemented in some time," said Gehlot, adding that a ban on 46 mining in the area is under the process.

He told saints that banning is a tough process and within two months it will be done.

"The villagers whose livelihood is dependent on the mining will be convinced and rehabilitated in order to expedite the process of banning," said the official statement.

Gehlot has also accepted the demands made by the saints on constructing a road from Deeg Sikri Road to Pashupati Nath Temple, a gate named after the deceased Mahant Vijay Das, a high mast light in the area etc.

State tourism minister Vishvendra Singh said that they have identified the 82 Kos Parikrama in order to boost tourism.
