Governor Andy Beshear chosen to co-chair the Appalachian Regional Commission

Governor Andy Beshear has been chosen to help lead an economic development agency that awarded Kentucky more than $51 million last year.

Beshear was chosen by his fellow Appalachian governors to take on the role of co-chair for the Appalachian Regional Commission. He will work with federal ARC co-chair Gayle Manchin to lead the commission’s mission of bolstering the economies of its 13 state service region.

Beshear is the 70th state co-chair and the first from Kentucky since 2015, when his father, former Governor Steve Beshear served in the role.

The governor will be in the position for the upcoming year. Kentucky will host the Appalachian Regional Commission’s Annual Conference this fall.
