Government Watchdog Group Seeks Records On Hunter Biden Investigation

Hunter Biden

A government watchdog group has filed a lawsuit in Delaware federal court to compel the Justice Department to produce records that may determine whether Hunter Biden should be further investigated under a 1910 law related to 'prostitution or debauchery.'

The Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project filed the petition in the same Wilmington court where Biden was recently found guilty on gun charges. The group contends that there is evidence suggesting Biden was being probed on Mann Act grounds.

The Mann Act, a law dating back to a time when prostitution was more prevalent, makes it a felony to knowingly transport any woman or girl across state lines for the purpose of prostitution or debauchery.

The legal brief includes a transcript from a 2023 interview with IRS whistleblower Joseph Ziegler before the House Ways & Means Committee. Ziegler mentioned efforts by the Justice Department to assess potential Mann Act violations, including deductions related to travel expenses for individuals associated with Biden.

Oversight Project attorney Kyle Brosnan believes that the Justice Department possesses relevant information that should be made public. The group is seeking records related to Ziegler's testimony, communications with the probation office regarding the Mann Act, and inquiries related to potential victims.

Despite the evidence found on Hunter Biden's laptop, which was entered into evidence in his criminal case, the Justice Department issued a 'Glomar response' to requests for information on the matter. This response neither confirms nor denies the existence of the sought-after information.

In response to IRS whistleblowers' testimony, Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and James Comer wrote to the Justice Department, highlighting potential victims in relation to a Mann Act probe involving Biden. They emphasized the importance of ensuring justice for these victims.

Oversight Project's executive director, Mike Howell, stated that transporting individuals across state lines for illicit purposes is a federal offense. He criticized the Justice Department for not prosecuting Biden for potential Mann Act violations, despite tracking the information.

The Justice Department, White House, and Biden's attorney have not responded to requests for comment on the matter.
