Govanhill Baths renovation sees stunning new roof light installed in the steamie

Govanhill Baths have had a new roof light installed as part of their renovations, and the result is totally stunning.

Renovations to restore and rejuvenate the three swimming pools and Edwardian bath house started last year, with the bulk of the work this year taking part on the roof of the bath house in Govanhill.

A picture shared to Twitter by architectural-lover Niall Murphy shows the new roof light compared to the former polycarbonate light, which had gone 'milky in the sunlight'.

And not to mention it was the right day for it, with it being brilliantly warm and sunny, the blue sky looks great against the glass.

Friday March 25 marked 21 years since the fight began from the locals in the community to save, preserve, and restore the Govanhill Baths,

The Govanhill Baths passed into community ownership in 2021, almost 20 years to the day since protesters first occupied the building on March 21, 2001 in an attempt to prevent it from closing.

Govanhill Baths Building Preservation Trust are managing the refurbishment and Clark Contracts have been appointed to complete the works.
