The Mercedes-AMG factory driver clinched the first championship of the DTM's GT3 era last year by winning both races at the Norisring season finale, benefitting from a contentious first corner clash involving main rivals Kelvin van der Linde and Liam Lawson before Mercedes invoked team orders.
Gotz switched from the Haupt Racing Team to the Winward Racing Team for 2022, but has yet to register a podium from the opening six races of the season, with a fifth place in Portimao his best finish to date.
