Gordon Strachan and John Nelms addressed the Dundee squad on Monday as they prepare to rebuild for the Championship.
Strachan has agreed to step up and take overall charge of football operations.
He had previously been technical director but he will now take on a more first-team hands-on approach – as the Dark Blues look to win promotion back to the Scottish Premiership at the first time of asking.
One of Strachan’s first tasks will be to appoint a new manager/head coach to replace Mark McGhee.
Dundee currently has a shortlist and they are looking at their options.
Strachan and chief executive Nelms put their playing staff in the picture as to some of their plans to move forward.
The players have all been told there will need to be big improvements on various aspects next season.
Dundee will also have to make decisions on a number of out-of-contract players.
Striker Danny Mullen has still to agree a new deal as does captain Charlie Adam.
Declan McDaid, Christie Elliott and Liam Fontaine are also out of contract, while Zeno Ibsen Rossi and Vontae Daley-Campbell will return to their parent clubs now their loans are up.
