Gordon Ramsay has partnered with Rangers FC to create his very own menu at a special hospitality lounge in Ibrox stadium.
The Michelin-starred chef, originally from Johnstone, has been an avid Gers fan since his youth when he dreamed of becoming a pro footballer. Gordon Ramsay Restaurants is working with the football club to launch their new hospitality lounge ‘Menu by Gordon Ramsay’ at Ibrox.
Ramsay previously trialled with the football club as a teenager, before bowing out after a knee injury to pursue a course on hotel management. Speaking of the exciting partnership, the Hells Kitchen chef, 56, said: "From a very young age I dreamt about having my name up in lights at Ibrox.
"Whilst my football career may have ended prematurely, I’m proud and delighted to have partnered with the Rangers team to develop an exclusive menu for the iconic stadium.
"‘Menu by Gordon Ramsay’, features a stunning menu of seasonal produce and stand-out dishes, all personally chosen by myself to offer a world-class dining experience at the home of Scottish football."
This comes after Ramsay visited the club's Auchenhowie training facility last year during a fleeting visit to Scotland, where he toured around his old stomping grounds. The TV chef was given a trial at the Ibrox club as a teenager but never made the grade in the professional game.
During his visit in 2022, Ramsay met James Tavernier, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and John Lundstram while sporting a football shirt that read 'CHEF RAMSAY' on the back.
James Bisgrove, Rangers' newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, said: "Gordon visited Ibrox and the Rangers Training Centre last July, and we’ve been discussing ways of working together ever since. We’re delighted to officially partner with Gordon Ramsay and his team and can’t wait to launch the ‘Menu by Gordon Ramsay’ concept at Ibrox next season.
"The Blue Sky Lounge restaurant has already been incredibly popular with our supporters and with Gordon’s signature menu being introduced soon, I’m sure it will continue to be a ‘must visit’ restaurant in Glasgow. Ibrox is quickly becoming a destination in its own right for Rangers supporters and for visitors from all over the world."
"With the recent launches of our multi-purpose venue; Edmiston House, Blue Sky Lounge restaurant, and the new Club Museum, plus a Sports Bar set to open soon, this unique partnership with Gordon Ramsay Restaurants will only serve to elevate Ibrox even further."
Gordon's first love was football as he set his sights early on a career as a professional sports star. In an article for The Guardian, Gordon explained how he first fell in love with the game of soccer.
"My uncle Roland took me to my first game at Ibrox," he wrote. "I was seven and I went on his shoulders. The crowd was just phenomenal.
"We were standing by the terraces and I remember getting slightly nervous, and very scared. Because you just swayed then, you just moved in a sway formation.
"I think it was against Hearts and it was dirty — I mean very dirty — and Rangers won 1-0. Those games are always going to be dirty for the next century, because it's just an all-blood tie. And I loved it."
