Lucky Cat, the new Japanese concept restaurant from chef Gordon Ramsay, is now open for bookings. It’s set to open its doors on June 1.
It will be the second Lucky Cat restaurant in the UK, with the first opening in Mayfair in 2019. The multi-Michelin star winning celebrity chef said: “I’ve toured and worked in much of Asia over the years, and the culture, the flavours, and the incredible cooking truly inspire me.
“Manchester is renowned for its thriving culinary landscape, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it. We’re fired up to build on the phenomenal success of our Mayfair restaurant and bring something truly exceptional to the people of Manchester this Summer.

“I can’t wait for Lucky Cat to make its mark in this fantastic city.”
The restaurant will open at 100 King Street, the stunning Grade II-listed building vacated by Jamie Oliver’s Jamie’s Italian in 2019, next door to the Gotham Hotel. Originally the Midland Bank, it was designed by Edwin Lutyens in 1928 and built in 1933 in the art deco style.
The space has been renovated over three floors, and features ‘opulent dining vaults’, private dining rooms and private bar areas, as well as a large public dining room on the ground floor. The concept of the restaurant is based on the drinking dens of 1930s Tokyo, and the ‘kissa’, the name for the jazz bars that were popular at the time.
Dishes on offer will include black cod, beef sirloin ‘weeping tiger’ and a signature Lucky Cat duck bao, created by Ramsay and Lucky Cat Executive Head Chef Andre Camilo. There will also be sushi and sashimi, including a tuna tartar and dragon rolls.
Meanwhile, the bar will be offering up a ‘Lucky Negroni’. Diners will be asked to roll three dice from a mystery box to determine the combination of gin, vermouth and bitters, with a possible 216 combinations, making the drink ‘a personalised, exhilarating experience’.
