Viewers of Gordon Ramsay's new show Future Food Stars were left in stitches on Thursday, April 13 after the Hell's Kitchen chef declared he would rather be punched by guest star and Olympic boxer Nicola Adams than consume one of the drinks a team created on his programme!
Future Food Stars sees the legendary telly chef search the UK for the country's most innovative food and drink business owners - with talented entrepreneurs battling out to win a huge £150,000 investment from Gordon himself. The series began with 12 entrepreneurs and each episode sees competitors split into teams and given different challenges aimed at showing Gordon whether or not the entrepreneurs have the ingredients to succeed: talent, passion, determination, dedication and teamwork.
On the latest episode of the series, the three remaining teams faced two challenges. In the first, they had to run a bottomless brunch at one of Manchester's hottest brunch spots and were responsible for every aspect of the event including the running of the kitchen, the bar and the front of house. The second challenge saw them create a meal and a drink for fitness fanatics and gymgoers in two hours with special guest, boxer Nicola Adams giving her two cents on the finished products alongside a team of sports experts. Unfortunately for one team, their thirst quencher for gym bunnies didn't quite get the seal of approval from Gordon or Nicola.
As the fiery tv chef tasted their ginger, water and lemon juice 'shot' drink, Gordon grimaced and said: "That is foul, that tastes awful."
Later, after switching up the ratios of the ingredients in the juice, the team presented their meals and drinks to the panel once again - but the team's juice still didn't hit the mark. After trying the team's drink, a disappointed Gordon said: "That's just turned my mouth into a cat's ar*****e," adding: "I'd rather get a shot from Nicola!"
After this hilarious graphic comment, viewers were creasing over the classic one-liner from 56-year-old, with many rushing to Twitter to comment on the scene.
Elsewhere in the programme, viewers watched as a disagreement between one team over what product they should make caused a distinct rift. The yellow team, made up of entrepreneurs Rachel, Gary, Naomi, and Andy, were tasked with coming up with a meal that would entice fitness fanatics - and Rachel, Naomi and Andy immediately shot down Gary's idea of making tacos, much to his disappointment.
Unfortunately, Gary "wouldn't move off" the idea, which led to a rift in the team which ultimately saw Gary leave the competition after Gordon deemed him a lone wolf, rather than a team player.
After telling Gordon during the pitching segment of the show - in which they showcased their products - that he had no input in the ideas for the meals, Gordon asked Gary if he'd behaved like a petulant teen after having his idea shut down - an opinion that was denied by Gary. Stating how he didn't want to be held accountable for the ideas that didn't go down as swimmingly as they'd thought, Gordon said: "But that wasn't the place, Gary, to announce to the panel how f**ed off you were."
He added: "You can lead, but you can't take direction. And in business, that's not a good sign."
Viewers had mixed feelings on this and took to Twitter to voice their thoughts.
@NerradSelims_91 wrote: "I do feel for Gary in a way... I know how it feels to feel not included in a team and [they] always shoot down every idea you come up with... I can see why he didn't bother in the end. Don't let anyone bring you down, keep pushing to get what you want! #FutureFoodStars."
@Sanassee, contradicting this, said: "Gary, an absolute man-child. I think it's fair to say that was the right decision. #FutureFoodStars"
@shahin_lisa added: "I'll tell you what @GordonRamsay. I hope you're watching tonight. See for yourself how they treated Gary. He was bullied. Period. #FutureFoodStars", while @dasouthC penned: "Bye Gary,..offering ONE food is not sharing your expertise... Gordon Ramsay said the beef had potential...should have helped them with beef ..instead you started beef #FutureFoodStars"
Gordon Ramsay's Future Food Stars continues next Thursday on BBC1 at 9pm.
