Republican Sen John Kennedy has warned his party that it cannot ask Americans to ignore the pressure of higher prices, saying Republicans need to acknowledge the cost-of-living squeeze as they campaign for the 2026 midterm elections.

'Telling them not to believe their own lying checkbooks is not going to work,' Kennedy said on NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday, arguing that the cost of living would be one of the biggest issues for voters.
