GOP Leaders Infuriated by Reports of Biden Administration Quietly Selling Unused Border Wall Materials

A video released on Thursday by The Daily Wire has gone viral for showing trucks moving stacks of wall materials which, allegedly, not only were supposed to be used to build the southern border wall but are seemingly set to be auctioned off by the Biden Administration in what some described as an apparent effort to hinder President-elect Donald Trump's effort to crack down on immigration.

The outlet quotes a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agent who said that "they are taking it from three stations: Nogales, Tucson, and Three Points" and that "the goal is to move all of it off the border before Christmas." The site also published an apparent auction being made through GovPlanet, with sections of wall panels set to begin at only $5.00.

Although official sources have yet to confirm the veracity of finding, several prominent GOP representatives are already expressing their outrage at the news.

"President Biden is rushing to sell off sections of the wall that are yet to be built," said Texas Senator Ted Cruz through a post on X, adding that "President Biden and Kamala Harris have successfully put illegal aliens over the safety and security of our own citizens" and cautioning his followers to "never forget why the American people rejected them."

Missouri Senator Eric Schmitt also took to X to express his criticism. "Want to buy a piece of the border wall? The Biden Admin's starting bid is $5," said Schmitt with irony before adding that "this isn't the first they've pulled this stunt and tried to sell border wall materials at a steep discount." He accompanied his post with a video of himself warning about a similar operation by the Biden administration in the past.

Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw called the auction the "biggest holiday sale of the season" and suggested that Texas Governor Gregg Abbott "should buy all the materials for Texas' own border wall construction and then use freed up funds for Operation Lone Star to transport more illegal migrants from Texas to Democrat sanctuary cities."

Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick had a similar idea during an interview with Fox News on Thursday in which he said he would bid on the wall and "give it to Donald Trump:"

"So I'm going to find out first thing in the morning, where are we going to take the bid. I've got a billion dollars in my pocket to do it. I write the budget with Senator Joan Huffman. We have the money. We're going to have about six billion in our budget for border security. We'll buy it."

Arizona Congressman Eli Crane was one of the most vocal critics of the auction and was actually quoted on the Daily Wire's original breaking piece:

"The Biden Administration is well aware they shouldn't have reversed the construction of the border wall. If it's true, they're purposefully hamstringing an incoming president, it wouldn't be shocking. Why would they want to see President Trump succeed with policies they aggressively sabotaged?"

Crane also added that "any last-ditch attempt to obstruct this mandate by the Biden Administration would be a direct affront to the will of the people."
