GOP Congressman calls for impeachment of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas

Florida Congressman Byron Donalds, from the House Oversight Committee, recently walked off the floor while expressing his concerns about the crisis at the southern border. He highlighted the devastating impact on families who have lost loved ones to violence associated with drugs and the ease of smuggling fentanyl pills across the border due to the policies of President Joe Biden.

In response to the dire situation at the southern border, Donalds and House Republicans took action and impeached Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security. They insist that the Senate should conduct further investigations into the matter, as they believe the current situation is a man-made political crisis created by the Democrats and President Biden.

However, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) responded to the impeachment vote by stating that House Republicans will be remembered for trampling on the Constitution for political gain, rather than focusing on resolving the serious challenges at the border. They defended Secretary Mayorkas, asserting that he has faithfully served the nation for more than 20 years and is committed to keeping Americans safe.

Donalds strongly disagreed with the DHS response, accusing Mayorkas of neglecting his duty and failing to enforce federal law. He believes that Mayorkas and the Biden administration's policies have supported drug cartels and the radical left. He reiterated the need for accountability and emphasized that the American people deserve better.

Regarding the claim made by Mayorkas that Congress must take responsibility for fixing the broken immigration system, Donalds pointed out that during former President Donald Trump's term, the number of encounters at the southern border never exceeded one million in any given year. Under President Biden, the number has surpassed one million each year, and projections suggest it could reach close to three million for this year alone. Donalds finds this situation unacceptable, especially as incursions on the northern border have also begun to occur.

While the DHS sees the failed border bill as a talking point, Donalds believes it would have perpetuated the flow of migrants into the country. Instead, he argues for the reinstatement of Trump's border policies, which he believes effectively secured the border.

In conclusion, Donalds asserts that the focus should be on securing the border before discussing other topics such as additional funding. He blames President Biden for the crisis and expresses his disappointment at the allocation of funds while the nation is facing such an invasion.
