What you need to know

It turns out Google Translate’s new AI-powered Advanced mode can be tricked into chatting instead of translating.
The core issue is "prompt injection." The powerful language model inside Advanced mode can't always tell if text is meant to be translated or is an instruction for it to follow.
If you need predictable, reliable translations without AI surprises, the older Classic mode remains unaffected and safe to use.
