Google's Lyria 3 is the 'Nano Banana' of music — here’s why I’m hooked

AI Music.

Writing affirmations each day is something I've done in my journal for years. But an hour or two into my day, I've already forgotten them. That's why the launch of Lyria 3 in Gemini this week has been a game changer for me. Instead of reading my affirmations, I turned them into 30-second earworms that I can play while I brush my teeth or listen to in my AirPods before a meeting.

The results weren't just cool tunes, they were genuinely memorable. Here is how to use the new music tool in Gemini to soundtrack your own self-improvement.

How to access the music tool

As of February 18, 2026, Lyria 3 is rolling out to all Gemini users (18+). It lives right inside your chat window and is launching directly in the app slowly. To try it, simply:

  • Open Gemini (Desktop is live now; Mobile is rolling out this week).
  • Click the "+" or "Sparkle" menu next to the prompt bar.
  • Select "Create Music" (powered by Lyria 3).
  • Enter your prompt using the formulas below.

My affirmation prompt playbook

Lyria 3 is built for original expression, which means unlike Napster, you can generate your own lyrics and song style based on your core idea. To get a jingle that actually sticks in your head, use my [Affirmation] + [Genre] + [Vibe] formula.

1. The 'morning power' anthem

The Goal: To wake up and feel invincible.

The Prompt: "Create a 30-second high-energy Afrobeats track with heavy percussion and a soulful vocal. The lyrics should be built around an affirmation about being successful."

I landed on this one after a few other prompts. I really like it because it says everything I need to change my mindset and start the day with confidence.

2. The 'pre-meeting calm' loop

The Goal: To lower your heart rate before a big presentation.

The Prompt: "Generate a 30-second Lo-Fi hip-hop track with a chill, melancholic piano melody and vinyl crackle. Use a soft, whispered female vocal for the affirmation about staying calm and focuse."

Honestly, this track is much slower than I expected, but it works. I am by nature a very energetic and hyper person, so listening to this is truly calming.

3. The "gym hype" banger

The Goal: To push through that last set.

The Prompt: "A 90s-style East Coast rap track with a gritty beat. Use an aggressive, confident vocal style. The lyrics should center on discipline and strength. Make it sound like a stadium entrance theme."

This track is just what I need in my playlist to get one more set in when I feel like giving up.

My three pro tips for better jingles

  • Don't write the lyrics. You certainly can, but you don't need to. One of Lyria 3’s biggest upgrades is that it automatically writes lyrics for you. Just give it the core phrase, and it will expand it into a 30-second song structure.
  • Use the "visual" hack. If you're at a loss for words, you can actually upload a photo of your vision board (try using Mixboard!) or just about anything and ask Gemini: "Use this photo to create a 30-second track with lyrics about X." The AI analyzes the colors and mood of the image to set the tempo and key.
  • Upload to Apple Music. Open the Apple Music app/iTunes on your computer. Click the sidebar menu (...) and select Import. Locate your Gemini MP3 and click Open. Ensure "Sync Library" is turned on in your settings so it pushes to your phone. Uploading to Spotify is a little trickier, so I choose Apple Music in this case.

The takeaway

Long before AI existed, I actually wrote jingles for companies like Nestle and children's apparel. One of them is so catchy, my kids still sing it. But, I don't want to always come up with the lyrics and tunes just to get motivated for the day.

Can I still write them? Sure, but AI is great in a pinch. Gemini has made it so easy to turn everything from affirmations to text messages into a fun 30-second tune.

As we enter a more personalized media era, I think we're going to see more ways where AI can speak to us in clever ways. Whether it's a 30-second jingle or a full-blown "Pre-Meeting Anthem," Lyria 3 makes the "soundtrack of your life" literal. And I'm totally here for it.
