Goods train derails at Kaipadar yard in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: A goods train derailed at Kaipadar yard between Khurda Road and Kaipadar stations on Howrah-Chennai mainline at around 2.25pm on Thursday. Nobody has been injured in the incident, said the East Coast Railway (ECoR) sources.

The train loaded with panel rails used for railway track laying was coming from Kaipadar Road to Khurda Road. Rear trolley of the goods train was derailed while passing a crossing. Because of this derailment, both the rail lines were blocked.

Following this, train movements in the section were controlled enroute. Seven trains including Konark Express and Falaknuma Express were controlled at different stations till the lines were cleared.

An accident relief train was rushed to the accident site and detached the front portion of the train. Railway officers went to the spot and worked on war footing to restore the train by 4.50pm. Train services were normalised on the route after 5pm.
