Good Morning Britain viewers distracted by interview 'gatecrasher'

Good Morning Britain viewers spotted a "gatecrasher" during Wednesday's instalment of the show.

The ITV morning programme was broadcast live from Westminster, with hosts Ed Balls and Susanna Reid reporting from the lawns outside the Houses of Parliament.

It comes amid Government chaos, with Chancellor Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid both having dramatically quit their roles on Tuesday.

The scandal-hit Prime Minister could now be on the way out of Downing Street with two of his most senior cabinet members joining Conservative Party Chairman Oliver Dowden in quitting.

Disgraced former MP Neil Parish appeared on GMB to give his take on the events. Mr Parish resigned from his position in May after being caught watching pornography in the House of Commons.

He told the co-presenters he had voted in support of Mr Johnson during the no-confidence vote last month. However, he said his position has now changed, and he thinks the same would be likely with many of his former colleagues.

Viewers at home were distracted, however, as a man appeared in the background behind them. Brexit protester Steve Bray held a number of placards, one of which said: "Get your Johnson out of our Democracy", while another said "Brexit destroys opportunities".

Taking to Twitter, Wine_oasis said: "Love the guy with the placards", while Natasha said: "Steve Bray in the background with his placards on #GMB is comedy gold. For goodness sake @GMB interview Steve about Priti Patel's dismantling of the right to protest laws....".

Jay Baker said: "Yay we have someone with placards", and Jessica said: "Love a gatecrasher, and his signs are great. GO ON FELLA".
