Kate Garraway was left stunned when Good Morning Britain co-star Adil Ray walked off the set after being left furious by a joke she made at his expense.
The clash took place during Wednesday’s episode when the pair were informing viewers about an upcoming segment on the ITV breakfast show focusing on water pollution.
Ray told Garraway that the river near him in London has also been affected. Poking fun at him, Garraway quipped: "The Thames? That river near you in London?"
She then burst into laughter as a decidedly unimpressed Ray looked into the camera and shook his head.
Garraway soon realised he wasn’t laughing with her and tried to defuse the situation, telling him: "Sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me this morning! I've gone all giddy."
Ray was not having any of it however and when she tried to move the show along, he picked up some paper from the desk and started to get up. Grabbing his arm, Garraway warned: "Don't you walk out! Don't you walk out."
The TV star had made up his mind however and started to make his way behind the desk and towards the door of the studio.
Some well-time music started to play indicating that an ad break was coming up as a clearly flustered Garraway attempted to continue alone.
She told viewers: "You're watching Good Morning Britain on ITV1 which may be hosted by one, you never know."
Turning to see where Ray was, she yelled out to him in the distance: "Come back!"
Ray was then followed by a camera into the corridor before he appeared to have a change of heart and turned back around towards the studio.
It’s unclear whether or not he had all been messing around all along, as he had a huge grin on his face and was even laughing.
Although he did eventually rejoin Garraway, there was another touch-and-go moment later on in the show when entertainment reporter Richard Arnold said something which also touched a nerve.
After an awkward silence follow, Ray let out a cough.
Garraway got in quickly, warning: "He may storm out the other way this time."
This time, the panel all laughed and the sound effect of a boxing bell was played.
