Simon Calder has issued an update after easyJet cancelled 1,700 flights.
The airline has axed hundreds of flights from its main base at London Gatwick. The firm has told 180,000 holidaymakers that their flights in July, August and September will no longer be running.
Good Morning Britain's travel expert appeared on today's edition of the ITV news programme to react to the cancellations. He told broadcaster Ranvir Singh that the updates were due to air traffic control restrictions.

He said: "The background to this is, very sadly, easyJet says air traffic control restrictions are playing havoc with its schedule at Gatwick which is its main base.
"As a result of that, people who were waiting at the airport last night for the final flight of the day to Belfast and Budapest found out late on at the gate that they were not going anywhere. It's a bid over July, August and September to straighten out the schedules."
Simon added the budget airline claims this is a "really serious problem" at Gatwick airport. He said: "It is the world's busiest single runway airport and delays build up easily."
The airline says 95% of affected travellers have been rebooked on to other easyJet flights, which has left 9,000 without a replacement. Simon issued a reassuring message for anyone who has a flight cancelled as European air rights rules passengers are entitled to be rebook at the earliest possible opportunity close to their original departure.
He said: "If they cannot be booked on easyJet, the airline has to pay for a ticket on another airline if there are seats available. If you've not heard that your flight has been cancelled then the very strong chance will be that it is going ahead. "
