Good Morning Britain's Richard Madeley fought back tears as he issued a tribute to Liverpool.
The 66-year-old fronted today's episode of the ITV news programme alongside Susanna Reid. The two covered the Eurovision handover after the international song contest officially landed in the city last night.
Representatives from around the world gathered at St George's Hall on Tuesday as Rylan Clark and AJ Odudu presided over the semi final draw. Richard recalled his own memories Liverpool as he reacted to the news that Eurovision has arrived on Merseyside.

He said: "Liverpool had this Morning too from the Albert Dock. Those were the days. The Albert Dock was a great place to do the show."
This Morning was filmed at the Albert Dock from 1988 after Granada moved to Dock Trade Office. Richard became a household name from his time presenting the flagship daytime show before it moved to London in 1996.
The broadcaster was in a nostalgic mood as it marked a special milestone for ITV. Today is the 40th anniversary of TV:AM, which was the first company that broadcast ITV's breakfast programming.
Susanna reminded Richard of the milestone as she said: "TV-AM is the reason why we are all here." An emotional Richard responded: "Don't make me cry."
