Good Morning Britain's Gordon Smart blown away by Sam Fender as host attends Newcastle gig

Gordon Smart has heaped praise on Sam Fender, after the Good Morning Britain star was in attendance at St James' Park on Saturday night, as the singer gave Newcastle another night to remember with a gig that Gordon branded a 'masterclass.'

Having opened his account with a career defining first St James' show on Friday night, as a packed house of fans flocked to the stadium to see Sam and his band have a real pinch themselves moment, after achieving an aim, which Sam himself admitted started as a joke a few years ago.

The sun was out again on Saturday and so were the black and white shirts, as Sam and the band returned to the SJP stage and among the crowd was journalist Gordon, who went down a storm with GMB viewers, when he made his debut on the ITV breakfast show at the end of last year. As a presenter on Radio X, Gordon has interviewed Sam in the past and sounded like he had quite a night in the stands to see him deliver a blistering show, with a special guest appearance from AC/DC legend Brian Johnson the fantastic cherry on the cake.

Sharing a photo of fireworks going off above the ground as Sam rounded things off with Hypersonic Missiles, Gordon wrote: "Nights like tonight I wish I had a newspaper to write for, a radio show to chat on or the telly to go on and wax lyrical about @sam_fender

That was a masterclass - getting the auld guitar teacher on with Brian Johnson for an AC/DC cover. Coming on to Local Hero with @johnnybluehat blasting the sax. Getting yer brother on for a song…Dead Boys, Play God, Borders, 17 Going Under, Hypersonic Missiles all before he’s turned 30?"

He added: "Home turf, Champions League qualifying season for the Toon with your family in the Jackie Milburn stand. Life doesn’t get any better," before awarding the show five stars.
