Kate Garraway became emotional as she was surprised by Beth Dixon, a nurse who cared for her husband in hospital.
Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway had a surprise meeting as she got reacquainted with someone who has important ties to her family. Joining today's show was Beth Dixon, a nurse who had cared for her husband as he battles a serious ongoing case of covid.
Beth was originally invited on to the show to surprise author Michael Rosen who was also suffering from covid. When Kate discovered her husband Derek was only a few beds away from Michael, she asked Beth if she was also one of Derek's nurses.

Kate said: "I have to ask you on a personal note, because you cared for Michael and Derek, we’ve now found out was two beds away. Did you care for him?" The Ormond Street Hospital nurse replied: "I would have done, yeah."
Taken aback, Kate became emotional as she thanked Beth for her work. She said: "God that is amazing. Thank you so much by the way." Brushing the compliments off, the former nurse said it was no problem as she smiled back at the GMB host.
After co-host Richard Bacon gave the okay to hug each other, Kate reached out to Beth as the pair embraced each other in the studio. She added: "Thank you so much. That is amazing. Gosh, I feel quite… I don’t know whether I can leap up and hug you but I’m going to. Thank you so much - that’s amazing. I’m quite overwhelmed as I’ve not seen the faces of anyone from that time so it’s lovely."
Derek Draper has been bedridden since March 2020 and requires 24 hour care. Kate said her husband is "still terribly affected by Covid" and that the illness has "undoubtedly" impacted his "brain connections to his body".
